Our Legacy
DeWalt Corporation is a multi-disciplined civil engineering firm which began as a one-man operation in 1965 under the name Dennis W. DeWalt Consulting Civil Engineer. Within two years, Mr. DeWalt's drive, ambition and success with clients, some of which still do business with our company today, enabled him to expand and hire his first full-time employees. The company continued to grow steadily through 1972, at which time larger offices were opened at 2340 Niles Street.
The firm incorporated as Dennis W. DeWalt, Inc. in 1973 and experienced even further clientele growth under his guidance and tutelage. Construction surveying expanded during the next five years with annual revenues increasing to approximately one million dollars. As a result of being retained to design and engineer larger and more extensive projects, the employee base also kept increasing. To recognize the significant contributions made by key employees, Mr. DeWalt extended ownership opportunities which led to the creation of DeWalt-Porter Engineering until 1990. At this time, due to the departure and restructuring of personnel, Dennis W. DeWalt, Inc. officially began doing business under its current name, DeWalt Corporation.
In 2002, Jeffrey A. Gutierrez agreed to terms with Mr. DeWalt for the purchase of DeWalt Corporation. With the same hands on approach of his predecessor, Mr. Gutierrez, in his capacity as president, currently manages the day-to-day operations, at their present location at 1930 22nd St. He is ably assisted by the Corporation's valued Board of Directors and Mr. DeWalt, who, in his capacity as the semi-retired C.E.O. and C.F.O. of DeWalt Corporation, is still retained for his advice and expertise on engineering, surveying, planning and construction management issues. Mr. Gutierrez and the entire staff take great pride in knowing that all of our projects reflect the professionalism and high standards originally set forth by Mr. DeWalt.
